Dr. Brent R. Gooch Biography

Dr. Brent Gooch

Dr. Gooch passed away August 27, 2005 after suffering a coronary attack. He is survived by his loving wife, Camden, four devoted sons and three precious granddaughters.

Dr. Gooch was a pioneer in the field of endocrinology, touching thousands of lives. He graduated magna cum laude from Utah State University in 1972 and received his M.D. from George Washington University, where he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He was honored by being appointed Chief Resident while performing his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Upon completion of his fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Vanderbilt University in 1982, Dr. Gooch joined MIMA and moved to Florida becoming one of the first endocrinologists in Brevard County.

He was extremely well versed in all fields of medicine but was especially respected for his skills in the research and treatment of diabetes. In addition to deeply caring for his patients, he was very active in diabetes research, participating in multiple national and international studies. As a diabetic patient himself, Dr. Gooch was an exemplary model to his patients and his dedication to his faith, family, education and fitness will remain an example for all to emulate.
