The 2009 Suntree Turkeytrot was a tremendous success with 500 runners and walkers participating in support of the Brent R. Gooch Fund of the Juvenile Diabetes Research (JDRF) Foundation. We would like to personally thank all of the participants for coming out in the morning drizzle to make this a very special event and raising money for the JDRF. A special thanks also goes out to the volunteers that worked so hard before, during and after the race to make this event successful. Finally, we'd like to thank the Suntree Country Club, Running Zone, and the numerous local businesses that supported this year's Suntree Turkeytrot. With our record turnout this year, we expect that our contribution to the JDRF will set a record as well.

The Suntree Turkey Trot 5K/10K Fun Run/Walk was created to honor the late Dr. Brent Gooch, a Suntree resident who spent his life treating and seeking a cure for diabetes. Although a diabetic from his youth, Brent's courage and caring were a daily inspiration to his family, friends and patients. This event commemorates his commitment to fitness and his zest for life & family.
